Pumpkin Patchwork
Play Pumpkin Patchwork free online. Swap neighbouring jack-o'-lanterns to match three or more, chain falling cascades and earn bonus moves with lines of four.
How to Play Pumpkin Patchwork
The pumpkin patch is a grid of seven columns and eight rows, filled with six kinds of carved pumpkin. Each kind has its own colour, shape and face, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Swap two pumpkins that sit side by side or one above the other. If the swap makes a straight line of three or more of the same kind, the line is harvested.
Harvested pumpkins disappear, the ones above slide down, and new pumpkins roll in from the top. Sometimes the falling pumpkins line up by themselves and score again. Each extra cascade in a chain is worth more than the last.
You get 25 moves. A swap that would not make a match simply swaps back and costs nothing. A line of four earns 30 bonus points and one extra move. A line of five earns 80 bonus points and two extra moves. When the moves run out, the patch is harvested and your score is final.
If you stop for a few seconds, two pumpkins gently glow to show a swap that works. If the patch ever has no possible match at all, it reshuffles for free.
Controls
Touch
- Swipe a pumpkin toward the neighbour you want to swap it with, or tap one and then tap the other.
Mouse
- Click one pumpkin, then click the neighbour, or drag one onto the other.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys move the cursor, Space picks up a pumpkin, then an arrow swaps it in that direction. P or Escape pauses, M mutes.
Tips and Tricks
- Make matches near the bottom of the patch. Everything above shifts down, so low matches start far more cascades.
- Look for two of a kind with a gap between them. One swap into the gap often makes a line of three.
- Lines of four and five pay for themselves twice: bonus points now and extra moves for later.
- Do not rush the last few moves. Bad swaps are free, but each real move should count.
About the Game
Pumpkin Patchwork is a calm, classic swap-matcher with a fixed number of moves, so a game takes a few minutes and every choice matters. There is no timer, and the hint is there when you want it.
The patch sits under a pale moon behind a crooked fence. Matched pumpkins burst into seeds and sparks, and the chain sounds rise in pitch as cascades build. It plays well on phones held upright. Your best harvest is saved in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.
Pumpkin Patchwork FAQ
Does a swap that makes no match use up a move?
No. The two pumpkins slide back into place and your move count stays the same.
How do I earn more moves?
Line up four of a kind for one extra move, or five of a kind for two.
What happens if no match is possible?
The patch shuffles itself automatically, without costing you a move.
Why do some chains score so much more?
Each cascade in a single chain multiplies the points, so one swap that sets off three or four falls can outscore several normal moves.
