Lantern Path
Play Lantern Path free online. Draw one unbroken line from the lantern that lights every crypt tile exactly once, around tombs, across 15 growing floors.
How to Play Lantern Path
Deep in the crypt, every floor is dark. You carry a lantern, and wherever you walk the tiles light up. Your task on each floor is to draw one unbroken path that lights every open tile exactly once, starting from the glowing brazier.
You move one tile at a time, up, down, left or right, never diagonally. You cannot step onto a tile you have already lit, and stone tombs block the way. When every open tile is lit, the floor is solved and you go down to the next one.
There are 15 floors. The first are small, four tiles by four. Later floors grow to seven by eight with more tombs scattered around. Every floor is built from a real route, so every floor has at least one solution.
Made a wrong turn? Step back onto the tile you just came from and the path shrinks by one. You can also use Undo or start the floor over. A floor is worth 100 points plus more for deeper floors, and a speed bonus for solving it within a minute.
Controls
Touch
- Drag from the lantern across the tiles, or tap the next tile one at a time. Drag back to undo. Use the Undo and Restart buttons under the floor.
Mouse
- Drag with the button held, or click each next tile.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys move the lantern. U or Backspace undoes a step, R restarts the floor. P or Escape pauses, M mutes.
Tips and Tricks
- Corners and dead ends next to tombs are the hardest tiles to reach. Plan to visit them early, or end your path on one.
- If a tile has only one open neighbour left, your path must finish there. If two tiles like that appear, back up.
- Sweeping along the edge of the floor first often leaves a simpler middle.
- There is no penalty for undoing, only a smaller speed bonus. Experiment freely.
About the Game
Lantern Path is a quiet logic puzzle in the one-stroke style: easy to understand, surprisingly deep on the larger floors. It suits players who like a slow think more than fast reflexes.
The tiles glow warm orange as you light them, against cold grey stone and carved tombs. It plays upright and works well on phones. Your best score across all 15 floors is saved in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.
Lantern Path FAQ
Can I move diagonally?
No. The lantern moves up, down, left or right, one tile at a time.
Does every floor really have a solution?
Yes. Each floor is made by walking a real route first and turning the leftover tiles into tombs, so a solution always exists.
How do I take back a move?
Drag or step back onto the previous tile, press Undo or U, or press Restart to clear the floor.
Where does the brazier start me?
The path always begins at the glowing brazier tile. It can end anywhere, as long as every open tile is lit.
