How to Play Grave Dash

A tiny hooded reaper is sprinting through the passage where the graveyard meets the crypt, and it cannot stop. The floor is lined with tombstones and the ceiling bristles with rusted iron spikes. You cannot jump. Instead, one tap flips gravity, and the reaper falls upward to run along the ceiling, or back down to the ground.

You can only flip while the reaper's feet are on a surface, so the trick is to flip early enough to be clear before an obstacle arrives. If you tap a moment before landing, the game remembers it and flips the instant you touch down. Later in a run, pairs of obstacles appear on the same side, and pale wisps float in the middle of the passage, so a badly timed flip can carry you straight into one.

Your score is the distance you cover in metres, plus 10 for every red soul orb you snatch. Orbs always sit on the surface you will want to run along. The pace climbs steadily for almost two minutes, so the longer you survive, the faster the passage rushes at you.

Controls

Touch

  • A tap anywhere flips gravity. It works with either thumb, in portrait or landscape.

Mouse

  • A single click on the game flips gravity.

Keyboard

  • Space, Enter, Up arrow or Down arrow flips gravity.
  • P or Escape halts the run, M switches the sound effects off and on, and Enter launches the reaper again after a crash.

Tips and Tricks

  • Look at the side you are not on. The question is never just what is in front of you, but whether the other surface is clear when you arrive.
  • Flip as soon as you land when obstacles come quickly. A flip takes almost half a second, and the reaper is helpless in the air.
  • Wisps only threaten you mid-flip. Stay put on the floor or ceiling while one floats past, then flip behind it.
  • Tap slightly early rather than slightly late. An early tap is stored and used the moment you land.
  • Chase orbs only when the route is clear. Ten points is never worth a crash.

About the Game

Grave Dash is a one-button runner with a gravity twist, part of the Reaper Man Arcade. It runs smoothly in a phone browser and on a computer, with distant crosses and dead trees scrolling slowly behind a blood-red moon. When you crash the reaper simply bursts into a puff of bone dust and red sparks, with no gore at all.

Every obstacle is placed with enough room to flip past it, so a crash is always a timing mistake you can fix on the next attempt, which is what makes it hard to stop playing. The game keeps your longest run on this device, and the leaderboard beside it ranks the farthest dashes from everyone.

Grave Dash FAQ

Is Grave Dash free?

Yes, there is no charge at all. The runner loads in a normal browser tab and never asks you to sign in or install anything.

Why won't the reaper flip in mid-air?

Gravity can only flip while the reaper is standing on the floor or the ceiling. A tap made just before landing is saved and used as soon as it touches down.

Does Grave Dash get harder?

Yes. The run speeds up gradually for about two minutes, double obstacles appear after twenty seconds and floating wisps join after forty-five.

Can I play Grave Dash on a phone?

Yes. Just tap the game to flip. It works in portrait or landscape and also plays with a mouse or keyboard.

How is the score counted?

Each metre run is a point, and each soul orb adds 10. Your longest run is stored by your browser, and you can enter any run on the shared Top 10.
