How to Play Crypt Breaker

A wall of skull bricks seals the crypt, and the only thing that can break it is a glowing soul. You hold the scythe along the floor of the crypt. Launch the soul, then slide the scythe left and right to keep it bouncing back up into the bricks. Clear every brick to open the next level.

Where the soul lands on the blade decides where it goes next. Hit it with the middle and it flies straight up. Catch it near an end and it shoots off at a steep angle, which is how you reach the corners. If the soul falls past the scythe you lose a life. You start with three.

Plain skull bricks break in one hit. Reddish tough bricks need two, and iron bricks with rivets need three, showing cracks as they weaken. Gold relic bricks always drop a power-up. Breaking several bricks before the soul comes back to the scythe builds a chain that multiplies your points, up to five times.

Touch

Slide your finger anywhere on the game to move the scythe. Tap to launch the soul.

Mouse

Move the mouse over the game and the scythe follows. Click to launch.

Keyboard

The arrow keys (or A and D) slide the scythe, and Space or Up launches the soul.
P or Escape halts play; M toggles sound.

Tips and Tricks

Use the ends of the blade on purpose. A steep angle sends the soul behind the wall, where it can break many bricks before coming back.
Save your lives by watching where the soul will land, not where it is now.
Catch every power-up you safely can, but never chase one if it means missing the soul.
Three Souls is the best time to take risks. Only the last soul falling costs a life.
Slow Time is perfect for the last few bricks of a level, when the soul is at its fastest.

About the Game

Crypt Breaker gives the classic brick breaker a graveyard makeover. There are six hand-made level patterns, from a plain wall to a fortress of iron, and after the sixth they start again with tougher plain bricks mixed in. The soul speeds up a little with every brick and each new level starts slightly faster, so the challenge keeps growing.

Four power-ups fall from broken bricks: Long Scythe makes the blade wider for a while, Three Souls splits the soul into three, Slow Time calms everything down for eight seconds, and Extra Life adds a life up to a maximum of five. Your highest score is remembered locally, and a Top 10 board lists the leaders.
