How to Play Hearse Hustle

The undertaker has a late delivery and the only road out of town is a narrow country lane wrapped in fog. You drive the hearse. It moves forward by itself; your job is to pick the lane. There are four lanes, and slow farm carts block some of them in every row.

Each row of carts always leaves at least one lane open, and the open lane is never more than two lanes away from the last one, so a quick driver can always find a way through. Hitting a cart ends the drive.

Your headlamp burns oil, shown in the Oil meter. Floating lanterns hang over the road between the carts. Drive through one to top the oil back up. If the oil runs out, the lamp goes dark and the drive is over, so you cannot just hide in one lane and dodge forever.

The road starts at a gentle pace and gets faster for the first hundred seconds or so. Every metre you drive is a point, every cart you pass is worth two more, and every lantern is worth five.

Controls

Touch

  • Tap the left half of the road to move one lane left, the right half to move one lane right. A swipe left or right works too.

Mouse

  • Click the left or right side of the road to change lanes.

Keyboard

  • Left and Right arrows, or A and D, change lanes. P or Escape pauses, M mutes.

Tips and Tricks

  • Look two rows ahead, not just at the next one. Planning the second move early saves frantic double taps.
  • Lanterns are worth a small detour while your oil is above half, and worth almost any risk when it is low.
  • Passing carts gives points, so staying near traffic scores better than driving along an empty edge.
  • One tap moves exactly one lane. Two quick taps move two, which is often the fastest way to the open lane.

About the Game

Hearse Hustle is a short-burst driving game built around one decision repeated at speed: which lane next. Runs take a minute or two, restarts are instant, and the pressure from the oil meter keeps every run moving.

The road winds through dark fields lined with crooked fences, and the hearse cuts a cone of warm light through the fog. It is tall rather than wide, so it plays well on a phone held upright. Your longest drive is kept in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.

Hearse Hustle FAQ

Can a row of carts block every lane?

No. Every row leaves at least one lane open, and it is always within two lanes of the previous open lane, so there is always a way through.

What does the Oil meter do?

It is your headlamp fuel. It drains all the time, and each floating lantern you drive through refills part of it. At zero, the drive ends.

Does the hearse keep getting faster?

It speeds up for roughly the first hundred seconds and then holds a steady top speed, so long drives stay fair.

How is Hearse Hustle different from Grave Racers?

Grave Racers is a racing game on a track. Hearse Hustle is an endless road where you only switch lanes, dodge carts and manage oil.
