Grim Garden
Play Grim Garden free online. Harvest glowing souls from skull trees, plant new saplings, hire gravediggers and shoo the crows before dawn in this idle clicker.
How to Play Grim Garden
Behind the cemetery fence lies a bone orchard where skull trees grow souls instead of fruit. You have one night, two and a half minutes from moonrise to dawn, to harvest as many as you can. Every soul you gather counts toward your harvest, which is your score.
Tap a tree to collect the glowing souls on its branches. Each tree fills up again over time, but only holds so many before it is full and stops growing. Now and then a golden soul appears, worth ten extra.
Souls are also money. Tap an empty plot of earth to plant another tree; each new tree costs a little more than the last. Along the bottom are three upgrades. Gravediggers harvest the fullest tree for you every few seconds. Moonwater makes every tree grow faster. Branches let each tree hold three more souls.
Crows visit the orchard during the night. A crow sits on a tree and pecks away its souls one by one. Tap the crow to shoo it off and you get a small reward for your trouble. When the moon reaches the far side of the sky, dawn breaks and the harvest is counted.
Controls
Touch
- Tap a tree to harvest it, an empty mound to plant, a crow to shoo it, or an upgrade button to buy it.

- Click trees, mounds, crows and the three upgrade buttons.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys move the red frame between plots. Space or Enter harvests or plants there. 1, 2 and 3 buy Gravedigger, Moonwater and Branches. P pauses, M mutes.
Tips and Tricks
- Plant early. A tree bought in the first half minute pays for itself many times over before dawn.
- A full tree is wasted time. If a tree says full, harvest it before anything else.
- Gravediggers shine once you have five or more trees, because they always pick the fullest one.
- Stop buying upgrades in the last half minute. Every soul you spend then is a soul that never reaches your score.
- Keep an eye on crows. Tap them quickly, since they only leave on their own once a tree is empty.
About the Game
Grim Garden is a fast clicker with a built-in clock. Instead of leaving it running for days, you get one short night to grow a little soul economy and squeeze as much out of it as you can. That makes every choice count: spend now and grow, or save and harvest.
The orchard is drawn in black and blood red, with twisted trees, a wrought-iron fence and a moon that crosses the sky as the minutes pass. It plays well on a phone held upright. Your biggest harvest is kept in this browser, and each finished night can go on the Top 10 board.
Grim Garden FAQ
Does my garden keep growing when I close the page?
No. Each game is one night of two and a half minutes, so scores on the Top 10 are fair for everyone. Pausing or switching tabs stops the clock.
What is the score in Grim Garden?
Your harvest: every soul you collected during the night, including golden souls and crow bonuses. Souls you spent still count, because they were harvested first.
What does a golden soul do?
It sits on one tree until you harvest that tree, then adds ten souls on top of the normal amount.
How many trees can I plant?
The orchard has nine plots. The first tree is already growing in the middle when the night begins.
Which upgrade should I buy first?
Usually more trees, then Moonwater. Gravediggers become the best buy once you have more trees than you can tap.
