How to Play Coffin Crane

It is moving night at the undertaker's yard. A crane swings a coffin back and forth above a wagon, and you decide when to let go. Tap once and the coffin drops straight down. It lands on the wagon bed, or on top of the coffin below it.

A coffin only stays if its middle lands over the coffin under it. Land it too far out and it tips off the side. The whole stack also has to balance: if the coffins above lean too far past the edge of the one holding them, they slide off together.

The wagon rocks gently from side to side, and the rocking grows as the stack gets taller, so the target keeps moving. The crane also swings a little faster over time. Three dropped coffins and the night's work is ruined.

Each coffin that stays on the stack is worth ten points. Land one almost exactly in the centre of the one below for a Perfect and twenty bonus points. The view rises with the stack, so you always see the top.

Tips and Tricks

  • Watch the top coffin, not the crane. Drop when the crane is about to pass over it.
  • The crane moves slowest at the ends of its swing, so drops near the turn are easier to time. Over the middle, it moves fastest.
  • If the stack starts to lean one way, land the next coffin a little toward the other side to bring the weight back.
  • Perfects double the points of a coffin. A tall stack of Perfects climbs the score fast.

About the Game

Coffin Crane is a one-button stacking game with real balance: how each coffin lands changes how steady the next one will be. Games are short, but a careful player can build a very tall tower.

The yard is quiet and dark, with a big moon, a few stars and a wooden wagon that creaks as it rocks. Fallen coffins tumble away with a thud. It plays upright on phones. Your best stack is saved in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.

Coffin Crane FAQ

Why did a coffin fall even though it landed on the stack?

Its middle was past the edge of the coffin under it, so it tipped. Coffins need their centre over their support.

Why did several coffins slide off at once?

The stack checks the balance of every coffin together with everything resting on it. If the combined weight leans past its support, that part of the stack falls.

How close to the centre must a coffin land for a bonus?

A coffin that lands within a few pixels of dead centre on the one below. It earns twenty extra points.

Does the wagon rock more as I go?

Yes. It starts nearly still and rocks wider as the stack grows, and the crane swings a little faster too.
