Clockwork Crypt
Play Clockwork Crypt free online. Build gear guns, bells and furnaces along a winding crypt path and upgrade them to stop wave after wave of creeping wraiths.
How to Play Clockwork Crypt
Wraiths drift down a winding path through the crypt toward the soul vault at the far end. Every wraith that gets through steals one of your 15 souls, and when the last soul is gone the crypt is overrun. Your job is to line the path with clockwork machines that stop them first.
Tap an empty stone tile next to the path to build. There are three machines. The Gear Gun is cheap and fires quick bolts at one wraith. The Bell rings out a slowing chime that halves the speed of every wraith near it and nicks them a little. The Furnace is the expensive one: it lobs a burning shell that splashes damage over a whole group.
Each wraith you destroy drops coins. Spend them on new machines, or tap a machine you already own to upgrade it, up to level three, for much stronger hits. You can also sell a machine for most of what you paid, which is handy when you want to move your defence.
Between waves there is a short break to build. Each wave has more wraiths, and they get tougher. Fast wraiths join from wave 3, armoured brutes from wave 5, and every tenth wave brings a huge boss. If you feel ready, call the next wave early for bonus coins.
Controls
Touch
- Tap an empty tile, then tap a machine in the panel to build it there. Tap a built machine to upgrade or sell it. Tap the wave button to call the next wave early.
Mouse
- Click tiles, machines and buttons the same way.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys move the tile cursor. 1, 2 and 3 build a Gear Gun, Bell or Furnace on it. U upgrades, S sells, N calls the next wave. P or Escape pauses, M mutes.
Tips and Tricks
- Build on the inside of a bend. A machine there can reach the path on two or three sides.
- One Bell placed before a group of Gear Guns makes every gun far more useful, because slowed wraiths stay in range longer.
- Save a Furnace for the long straight stretches where wraiths bunch up. The splash pays off most on crowds.
- Upgrading a good machine is often better value than building a new one in a poor spot.
About the Game
Clockwork Crypt is a compact tower defense game that fits on one tall screen. There is a single winding path, three machines with clear jobs, and waves that grow steadily, so you can learn it in one run and still find better layouts many runs later.
The machines are brass and steam, the enemies are blue-white wraiths, and the whole thing plays in a few minutes or a long session. Your best wave score is kept in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.
Clockwork Crypt FAQ
How many souls can I lose?
You start with 15. Each wraith that reaches the end takes one, and a boss takes more. The run ends at zero.
Do I get money back when I sell a machine?
Yes. Selling returns most of what you spent on the machine, including its upgrades.
Is there a benefit to starting waves early?
Calling the next wave before the break ends gives you bonus coins, so it is worth doing when your defence is comfortably ahead.
What does the Bell actually do?
It slows every wraith in its ring to half speed and does a small amount of damage. On its own it rarely kills, but it makes nearby guns much stronger.
