How to Play Bone Pile Solitaire

In the gravedigger's hut, two piles of cards lie in peaks on the table, 19 cards in all. Only the cards with nothing on top of them are face up and ready to play. Below the piles are the deck and a discard pile.

You can play any uncovered card that is exactly one higher or one lower than the card on top of the discard pile. Suit does not matter, and King and Ace connect, so a King can go on an Ace and an Ace on a King. The card you play becomes the new top of the discard pile.

When no card fits, tap the deck to turn over a new card. That ends your run. A run is the number of cards you play in a row without drawing, and each card in a run is worth more than the one before: ten points times its place in the run.

Clear both piles for a 200 point bonus plus 20 for every card still in the deck. A game has three deals. A deal ends when the piles are clear, or when the deck is empty and nothing can be played.

Controls

Touch

  • Tap a face-up card to play it. Tap the deck to draw a new card.

Mouse

  • Click cards and the deck.

Keyboard

  • Left and Right pick a card, Space plays it, D or the Down arrow draws. P or Escape pauses, M mutes.

Tips and Tricks

  • When two cards could be played, pick the one that uncovers more cards underneath.
  • Look a step ahead. Playing a 7 on an 8 might set up a 6, a 5 and a 4 that are waiting in the piles.
  • Do not draw while a play exists. Drawing breaks your run multiplier.
  • Save cards in the deck when you can. Each one left after clearing the piles is a bonus.

About the Game

Bone Pile Solitaire is a fast solitaire built around runs, close in spirit to classic peak-clearing games. A deal takes about a minute, and the run multiplier turns careful planning into big scores.

Cards are drawn with crisp suit shapes on worn paper, the deck has a skull on its back and a candle flickers at the corner of the table. It plays upright on phones. Your best three-deal score is saved in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.

Bone Pile Solitaire FAQ

Does the suit of a card matter?

No. Only the rank counts. Any card one higher or one lower than the discard pile can be played.

Can I play a King on an Ace?

Yes. King and Ace connect both ways, so the ranks wrap around.

How many deals are in a game?

Three. Your score adds up across all three.

Why is my score going up faster on some turns?

Each card you play without drawing in between adds to your run, and later cards in a run are worth more.
