How to Play Belfry Blaster
Bats have taken over the bell tower. You are the hooded figure at the bottom, sliding left and right along the floor. Your lantern fires on its own, all the time, so the only thing you have to do is move into the right place.
The bats arrive in neat rows that sway from side to side. Every so often one breaks away and swoops down at you. From the second wave, some bats drop glowing embers. Touching a bat or an ember costs a life, and you have three.
Clear every bat to finish a wave. From wave 4, bigger bats join that take three hits. Shot bats sometimes drop a golden bell. Catch it for a few seconds of triple shot. Every five waves, if you have lost a life, you get one back.
Each bat is worth points, swooping bats are worth more if you hit them on the way down, and big bats are worth the most.
Controls
Touch
- Drag anywhere on the screen. Your figure follows your finger's movement, so your thumb never covers it.
Mouse
- Hold the button and drag to move.
Keyboard
- Left and Right arrows, or A and D, move. P or Escape pauses, M mutes.
Tips and Tricks
- Stay under the middle of the formation. Shots there hit something almost every time.
- When a bat swoops, step to the side rather than backing away. It cannot turn sharply.
- Embers fall straight down. A small step is enough to dodge one.
- Save the golden bell for when it falls near you. Chasing it across the screen into embers is a common way to lose a life.
About the Game
Belfry Blaster is a classic fixed-shooter: rows of enemies above, you below, with auto-fire so the game is all about movement. Waves are quick, the pace climbs gently, and a good run is a steady rhythm of sweeping and dodging.
It is set inside a stone bell tower with purple bats, a swinging bronze bell and warm lantern light. It plays well on a phone held upright. Your best score is kept in this browser and can go on the Top 10 board.

Do I have to press a button to shoot?
No. Your lantern fires automatically. You only steer left and right.
What does the golden bell do?
It gives you triple shot for a few seconds, firing three bolts in a spread instead of one.
Can I win back a lost life?
Yes. Every fifth wave you clear gives back one life, up to the three you started with.
Why do some bats take more than one hit?
From wave 4, big bats join the formation. They need three hits but are worth much more.
