How to Play Scythe Swipe
The graveyard is spitting up trouble. Cursed jack-o'-lanterns and hexed skulls are tossed into the night sky, hang for a heartbeat at the top of their arc and then tumble back toward the earth. Drag your scythe across them to split them into smoking halves before they fall out of sight.
Not everything that rises deserves the blade. From level 2, friendly little ghosts drift up among the cursed things, and cutting one costs you a life. Letting a cursed lantern or skull drop off the bottom of the screen costs a life too. You have three, and the run ends when the last one is gone.
A jack-o'-lantern is worth 10 points, a skull 15 and the rare golden soul lantern 50. Cut two or more in one quick swipe for a combo bonus that climbs fast: +10 for two, +30 for three, +60 for four and +100 for five. A new level arrives every 20 seconds with faster tosses and bigger waves.
Controls
Touch
- Swipe your finger across the game to slash.
- Tap Pause in the top corner to stop, and tap the Sound button to mute.
Mouse
- Hold the button down and drag across the screen to slash. Moving without the button does nothing.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys or W, A, S and D move the scythe cursor.
- Hold Space while moving to slash along the cursor's path.
- P or Escape pauses, Enter starts or resumes, and M mutes.
Tips and Tricks
- Make long, sweeping cuts through groups. A four-piece combo earns 60 bonus points, more than four lanterns on their own.
- Strike at the top of the arc, where the lanterns hang almost still and line up easily.
- Ghosts float slowly and wobble, so carve around them instead of through them.
- Keep one eye on the bottom of the screen. A lantern you ignore costs exactly as much as a ghost you cut.
- Always chase the golden soul lantern. It is worth 50 points and missing it costs nothing.
About the Game
Scythe Swipe is a free reflex game from the Reaper Man Arcade, built for short, frantic bursts on a phone or a quick break at a computer. You play the reaper on harvest night, clearing hexes out of the sky with a blade that leaves a glowing red trail. Nothing bleeds here: cursed things simply burst into smoke and embers.
Each run starts gentle, one lantern at a time, then builds through ten levels of rising speed until the sky is crowded with skulls, lanterns and wandering ghosts.
